Christine McVie appared with Fleetwood Mac at London’s O2 Arena for the first time since retiring in 1998.

The rumors, no pun intended, can now be laid to rest. Fleetwood Mac, is currently on tour to celebrating a new four-track EP and the reissue of their classic album “Rumours”. Retired  keyboardist and singer Christine McVie joined her former bandmate’s at London’s O2 Arena last Wednesday and Thursday night. This was her first performance with the band since retiring in 1998.

Christine McVie joined the band back in 1970. Her vocals, on both lead and harmony, are what made some of their classic hits so popular. The song she played with them during the encore was “Don’t Stop”. She wrote the song in response to the separation from her husband John McVie, who was also the bands bass player. The two were divorced in 1979.

Stevie Nicks had confirmed McVie would appear at two of the five shows in the UK. Fans were extremely excited, but never knew in which shows she would be appearing. You can imagine the excitement to longtime fans when she took the stage.

Drummer Mick Fleetwood was over joyed when he stepped of the drum kit after the song. He came down on stage and joined the rest of the bad to take a bow.

McVie seemed very happy to be involved in the show. Before they took their bow, she and Nicks shared an embrace as the audience applauded.

Afterwards they came back out for a second encore without McVie. Fans were rewarded the following night as well when McVie appeared on stage with them again. The Fleetwood Mac tour will continue, but without McVie who seems very content with her past with the famous band.

McVie wasn’t the only former band mate in attendance. Original guitarist and Fleetwood Mac founding member, Peter Green was also in the crowd. During the show Stevie Nicks dedicated the song ‘Landslide’ to Green.
